Volunteers
We are always in need of compassionate, loving individu
als who are excited about making a difference in the life
of a child. If you are interested in giving a little of
your time and talents to a child in need, please consider
being a part of the Childspring family.
Childspring is headquartered in the heart of Midtown in
Atlanta, Georgia. Consider volunteering your time and skills
to our efforts as there are plenty of opportunities, large
and small, for you to get involved.
Please review our opportunities below to see how you can
be a part of this rewarding process.
Volunteer Opportunities at Childspring:
COMMUNICATIONS Special projects such as
the Gifts of the Heart newsletter, public relations, and
Speaker’s Bureau require prior experience. Volunteers work
independently or in committees until responsibilities are
met. Examples of volunteer activities include writing articles
for the newsletter, making speeches and working as a church
liaison, and website maintenance. This type of volunteer
work requires availability during the evenings and on some
weekends.
DOCTOR AND HOSPITAL SUPPORT Volunteers
work independently in their own communities to develop working
partnerships with medical professionals willing to donate
time and expertise to Childspring’s charity cases. This
position would involve direct appeals by telephone or in
person, with information passed on to the Childspring staff
for follow up communications.
FUNDRAISING Volunteers work in small groups
and / or independently to manage a project from start to
finish. The time commitment varies based on the individual
project. Volunteers should be able to make and receive calls
at work.. This is a great opportunity to work with a variety
of people, clubs, churches, and organizations.
HOST FAMILIESVolunteers
will attend an orientation session, which includes all the
details and responsibilities of caring for a child while
in the US for medical treatment (i.e. transporting the child
to doctor’s appointments, attending to any medical needs
they may have after surgery, etc). Prospective host families
will then have a weekend “test run” of hosting a child,
and would be asked to make a 4-6 week commitment to host
a child in their home.
OFFICE SUPPORT Volunteer opportunities
are available in our Atlanta, GA office Monday through Friday,
9 am – 5 pm. Office volunteers are asked to commit to a
minimum of four hours a week or 16 hours a month. Emphasis
is placed on selecting a consistent time to volunteer (i.e.
every Tuesday afternoon). Training in all areas of the office’s
day-to-day operations is provided. We do ask that volunteers
be familiar with office equipment and software and to be
comfortable making / answering phone calls.
