Donate Frequent Flier Miles and … Give a Child a Second
Chance For A Better Life
How many airline miles does Childspring need?
The children travel from all over the world; thus, it is
difficult to determine the exact number of miles we will
need each year. We ask donors to consider giving miles in
the amounts of: 25,000 for a domestic ticket 35,000 for
a South/Central American ticket 50,000 for a European ticket
80,000 for an African ticket. It is difficult to arrange
travel with less then 20,000 miles, however, we will work
with each individual to match a donation with our needs.
What airlines do we work with?
Every airline that has a miles donation program is a possible
resource. Delta, United, and American are our most popular
resources, though we often use Lufthansa, KLM, and other
major international carriers.
What is the process for donating the miles?
Childspring will keep your name, contact information, the
name of airline, miles account number, and the number of
miles you make available to us. You may choose to donate
your entire account balance or a portion of it - all you
have to do is indicate how many miles Childspring International
has access to.
What about my PIN number?
You may choose to give us the PIN number when we call you
for confirmation of the ticket we need. Or, you may keep
the pin number confidential and call the airline yourself
to finalize the ticket "purchase". Childspring will make
sure that your information is in strict confidence.
How will I know my miles have been used?
Childspring will always call to confirm how many of your
miles we need and we will only use the amount of miles you
have authorized! We will give you the child's name, age,
country, medical condition, and dates of travel. With your
verbal permission and PIN number, Childspring can finalize
the ticket. If you keep you PIN confidential, you will have
to contact the airline directly to finalize the ticket.
What about taxes and fees?
Airline policies have changed recently and they now require
that the name that is on the mileage account be the same
name that is on the credit card used to pay for the ticket
taxes. Usually, this is no more than $25 per ticket and
at your request, Childspring will gladly reimburse you for
this fee. Unfortunately, for security reasons, there is
no other way around this airline policy.
Is this gift tax deductible?
Airline miles are a gift from the airlines to you (their
client) thus; the miles do not have a cash value and are
not tax deductible. Childspring will send a letter thanking
you for your support once the child arrives in the US. We
may provide a small summary of the child's care photos if
they are available.
Thank you again for your willingness to be involved and
support our mission to provide advanced medical treatments
and opportunities for a better life to children around the
world.
