Transformed Lives
Childspring provides surgeries and treatments which transform kids' lives. The pictures below represent just 6 of the more than 125 children we've treated in 2011 as of June. We need your help to reach out to even more! Not every kid we treat goes through an immediately visible before-after transformation, as many have devastating internal problems.
Erick:
Fourteen-year-old Erick’s life has changed forever. Childspring International’s medical program, made possible with the support of doctors, volunteers, donors and host families, corrected Erick’s strabismus (a disorder in which the eyes do not line up with each other) during the surgery he had on May 28th. During his stay in Shreveport, LA, where his host family opened their doors and hearts, Erick started to look at his future with new eyes. As someone who had to struggle, both attending school and helping his grandmother sell vegetables at his town market, Erick could not have been more grateful. He always dreamt of having normal eyes and not being bullied at school, but he didn't know how it was going to happen. Just three weeks after arriving, Erick returned to his hometown of Chalchuapa, 80km northeast of the capital of El Salvador, and everyone could see how happy he was. Had Erick not received the surgery, he would have been at risk of becoming blind as his sight would have eventually diminished.
